Dr. Houghton is an incredible gastroenterologist that thinks outside the box. My digestive issues had been misdiagnosed for several years by another gastroenterologist, but when I switched to Dr. Houghton he figured out what my real condition was. Thanks Dr. H!

What’s happening now at SOMC Gastro?

I couldn’t sleep well knowing I didn’t do my best for my patients that day — Dr Houghton
This month marks 10 years since I started at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
10 years; over 20,000 endoscopic procedures; and a few gray hairs (ok, maybe a lot).
If I prevented or detected a few cancers (colon, esophageal, liver) and got a few patients feeling better along the way, then I consider it a successful 10 years (and if I got a few people off soda pop, even better).
Thank you to all of my coworkers for all you do for me, and thank you to all of my patients for putting your trust in me.
Here’s to another 10 years!
Dr Houghton
“At this time, all magnesium citrate products have been recalled from OTC pharmacies.
This is due to some lots/products having been found to be contaminated with a bacteria (Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens).
This bacteria can be dangerous if you do not have a normal functioning immune system.
There is no word on when the products will be available again, however we will keep you posted as we find out more information”
