Dr. Jesse Houghton celebrated a significant milestone after performing his 30,000th endoscopic procedure at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Most people don’t realize that it really does take a whole team of individuals to get even one endoscopic procedure set up and completed,” Dr. Houghton said. From our office schedulers, to our nurses, surgery schedulers, nurse practitioners, office manager, same-day surgery staff, endoscopy nurses and technicians, patient educators, and even coders and billers. Not to mention the hospital staff and transporters for our inpatient procedures.
While 30,000 procedures is a lot, Dr. Houghton said his greatest point of pride isn’t the volume of work but rather that he approached his 30,000th procedure with the same level of care as he did his first. “I don’t lose sight of the fact that each patient is putting their trust in me to diagnose their condition, evaluate and treat their symptoms, and prevent any cancer from developing,” he said. “Anyone that works with me can attest to the fact I have never rushed any procedure that I have performed. No matter what may be going on around me, I am 100% focused on the patient in front of me and their individual problem.
